Artist’s Statement
“My work is an exploration of the relationship between the mind and the essence of tangibility.
On first glance it seems like pure abstraction of form and colour; not quite landscape - not quite realism. Interpretation is in turn the conscious control of our emotions - the rest is up to the observer.

I use many different mediums such as spraypaint, acrylic, oils, polymer and pastels. I believe that working in just a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style through these various mediums resulting in being known as a ’mixed media’ artist.

When I was in primary school I was involved in a near fatal road accident. My favourite pastime while in hospital was when I was allowed to draw and paint. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I went to college to study to become an artist.

The original painted artwork forms of abstract art developed by painters Jackson Pollock, Hans Hofmann, Franz Kline and Helen Frankenthaler in the
’40s and ’50s inspire me greatly. Characterised by gestural brush-strokes, mark-making, and the impression of spontaneity - painting from the heart with emotion.
